Waterproofing

The Free 900 jacket was designed to stand up to a day on the slopes (around 8 hours).
To easily cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind...), this jacket has been developed using a component and treatment that prevent water getting in. To check that they are efficiently waterproof and watertight, these pants have been placed in a special shower reproducing the conditions a skier may face.

Water repellent fabric

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. The Free 900 jacket is equipped with water-repellent components that will extend their weather resistance. This is an extra technical solution to ensure dryness as long as possible on the slopes. You should repeat this treatment regularly using products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.

Coating treatment

The coating is a waterproof substance that’s spread on the inner side of the fabric. It prevents water from seeping into the garment but allows the water vapor produced by an active body to escape. You will stay dry and comfortable while hitting the slopes.

Membrane

The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This hydrophilic component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to staying warm and dry.

100% taped seams

As well as the waterproof fabric, we increase the watertightness of our Slide 900 jacket with sealed seams. These are waterproof adhesive strips attached to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. All the seams on the product are taped. They guarantee complete waterproofing in the snow.

Thermal insulation

The finishing at the end of the sleeves has adjustable velcro fastenings to go on top or underneath gloves, allowing better water resistance and preventing snow from entering if there’s a snowfall or uncomfortable cold air from getting in.
Since cold is a source of irritation, Wedze has integrated a soft fleece chin guard that carefully protects your face to avoid any risk of neck and chin irritation.

Thermal insulation recommendation

Dress properly on the ski slopes. In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your skiing base layer and your liner jacket must produce and retain warmth. Your ski jacket will protect you from the weather conditions. All layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.

Breathability

It’s the ski jacket’s ability to allow moisture produced during exercise to escape to the outside, keeping you dry. To find out if a fabric is breathable, its evaporative resistance, called RET (standardized test ISO 11092), is measured. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. Wedze uses technical components and solutions (zippers, ventilation, mesh) preventing condensation inside the garment. Free 900 jacket RET: 6

Windproof

This is the garment’s ability to resist wind. The fabric is made windproof through the coating or the application of a membrane on its inside. When skiing on the slopes or resting on the ski lifts, protect yourself from the wind to stay warm and remain comfortable.

Durability

We’re aware of the energy that’s used during days skiing or snowboarding. That’s why we take particular care in choosing the combination of features that make up our products to guarantee the best possible protection.
Because sharp skis can sometimes damage or cut the lower parts of ski pants or ski jacket epaulettes, Wedze has integrated high-performance reinforcements to prevent tearing to the maximum.

Storm cuffs

Cuffs on the ski jacket sleeves at the wrists. They stop snow getting in or air getting in, in the case of a fall.

Recco® safety system.

The Recco® search and rescue system features dual technology which supports the majority of ski rescue teams. The Recco® detector used by rescue teams broadcasts a directional signal. The Recco® reflector built into the jacket returns the signal. This generates an audible sound which guides rescue personnel directly to the person needing assistance. Be sure to register with the professionals at the station before any ski outing.

3D hood

Fed up with your hood falling over your nose, preventing you from seeing left and right? Wed'ze has added a hood equipped with removable double zipper and designed to mimic the movements of the head without obstructing visibility when on the slopes, to its ski and snowboard jackets.

Goggle cleaning cloth

This insert made of soft and very absorbent technical fabric wipes away water drops on your ski goggles while being screen-friendly.

Ski pass pocket

You no longer need to get your ski pass out because your sleeve has a ski pass pocket to allow you to access the chair lifts quickly.

Snow skirt

The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press snaps at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and air from getting in when skiing and especially in case of a fall. With the Free 900, the snow skirt is equipped with press studs which fuse the jacket and pants together for complete watertightness.

Audio output

The jacket features an audio output in the inside pocket for passing a hands-free phone kit, audio cable for listening to music, etc.

Care instructions

To optimize your jacket's performance and durability, we advise the following: Machine wash separately at 86°F. Synthetic cycle. Turn inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No softener. Wring out manually. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can re-waterproof the outer fabric using an aerosol waterproofing spray for fabric. Read the care tag carefully.

All Wed'ze products are designed and developed in the Mont Blanc Valley.
